South Carolina
South Carolina had three different branches of government. They had the legislature for making laws, a judicial branch for approving laws, and a governor for ruling the colony. Their major industry was plantation agriculture. They grew indigo, rice, tobacco, cotton and raised cattle. Indigo was a dye they used to color their clothes. South Carolina had nice weather, short winters, and long summers so farmers had long growing seasons. The first people that came were not sure how to make money. Colonists started to capture Native Americans so that they could sell them as slaves.
